The summer season is finally here and so are all the fun things that come with it! Like many Americans who work at least 40 hours a week, it can be tough to find the time to enjoy the warmer weather. However, it’s important to take advantage of the free time you do have and make the most of this season. Luckily, there are a number of events and activities you can try during the week and on the weekends. Take a look at these tips on how to use your time effectively this summer even while you are working a full-time job.
Wake up earlier and enjoy the morning
If you can try and wake up earlier during the week, you’ll notice how much more time you have in your day and won’t need to rush. Go for a run or take a yoga class in the morning and enjoy the summer air. Morning workouts are a way to stay active and make healthier choices throughout the day. Physical activity also wakes up your brain, so you can start the day with a clear head. Research shows that morning workout routines can even be more effective at waking you up than having a coffee! So try to start your day with a physical activity and take advantage of the warm weather this season.

Take walks during your lunch break
If your job requires you to be sitting at a desk for long periods at a time, you need to find ways to get up and move around throughout the day. Have a nutritious lunch and take a nice walk during your break, as it’s a great way to split up the day and remain productive. Try to make it outside at least for a little bit during the day, especially when there is warmer weather in which to take advantage. If you don’t have the ability to take a walk around your office, try to at least get outside and enjoy a little time in the sun.
- Explore the Boston Harbor Walk

Make it out after work occasionally
Whether it’s with your coworkers or friends in a nearby office, be sure to make an effort to go out after work every now and then. There are a number of activities that you can do in a group setting, from trying a new restaurant, to taking a class, or catching a show in the city. Once you have the plans set, it’s something fun that you can look forward to throughout the day.

Plan fun activities for the weekends
After a long week at work, it’s great to have some exciting day activities planned over the weekend. While it’s important to take some time to relax on your days off, the summer is a perfect time to plan something more adventurous as well. Because more people usually take off time during the summer, there are always new activities and events to explore.
- Cheer on the Red Sox at a baseball game

Take necessary vacation days
It’s no secret that many Americans shy away from taking all of their allotted vacation days. However, it’s important to take a break from work occasionally so you are able to regain your energy and perform at your best. A recent study by the Society for Human Resource Management revealed that 75% of HR professionals reported seeing better performance from employees who took more vacation days than from those who took less. Whether you want to plan a far away trip or just a long weekend nearby, you should try to take some time to step away from work this summer.
- Plan a day trip from Boston

It is important to attempt and maintain balance as best as you can, both at work and outside of work. This way you can enjoy the many fun aspects of the summer season, because it will fly by if you don’t take advantage of it.
