Associate Attorney #18715-JLK
Our client, a law firm specializing in intellectual property law, is seeking an associate to add to their team. The primary responsibilities in this position would include working with attorneys and agents to evaluate scientific inventions, including biotechnology and biomedical research to determine the patentability of an invention or the potential infringement of a client’s existing patent by others. This person would also provide technical support to the patent attorneys, prepare official correspondence for the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, conduct meetings with scientists and engineers, maintain a prosecution docket, and assist in license negotiations.
A J.D. from an ABA accredited law school and a Ph.D. or equivalent in Molecular Cell Biology, Cell Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or relevant biological sciences are a MUST! No background experience is necessary. However, coursework must include synthetic organic chemistry, and bio-organic chemistry, and research experience in multi-step total synthesis of alkaloid and peptide based natural products is essential. A candidate must also be able to work independently in both synthetic chemistry and biotechnology.
