How to Get Good Content Sent to You

Whether you are a recruiter or a job seeker, it’s not enough to just be on social media.  You also need to promote and share content on all of your profiles.  Sharing content will demonstrate your expertise or interest in a certain industry, as well as continually build your personal brand.  So where are you supposed to find this content to post?  Or better yet, how can you look for content and not have it take your whole morning?  Well, it’s easier than you may think to find good content to share.  Keep reading to see how you can get this good content sent to you so you are able to stay productive during your day.

Subscribe to blogs

One of the easiest ways to have the newest content sent to you is to subscribe to blogs.  Find the blogs online that you read the most and simply sign up with your email.  With many blog subscriptions, you can edit your notifications to determine how often you want to be sent this content.  This way you can open your email in the morning and have several options of content just waiting for you in your inbox.  (Speaking of which, you can subscribe to the JOHNLEONARD blog at the end of this article).

Sign up for email newsletters

Similar to subscribing to a blog, you can sign up to receive newsletters through your email as well.  Many companies will send these either weekly or monthly and will include their best content.  As a job seeker, it is beneficial to sign up to receive a potential employer’s newsletter or blog in order to know what is going on at that company and have speaking points if you land an interview.

Create a Feedly account

If you do one thing after reading this post, it is to create a Feedly account.  Feedly is a tool that allows you to organize in one spot all of your favorite publications, news outlets, online journals, and more.  You can also create specific collections of feeds and receive updates when new stories are published.  It is a time saving tool that not only allows you to find top articles to share, but also to discover new sources of content.

Make Twitter lists

As you continue to build your following on Twitter, it’s important to take advantage of Twitter lists.  Searching through all of the tweets on your homepage can be overwhelming at times.  Twitter lists are a great way to find the top accounts you follow and just show their updates in a single feed.  As a recruiter, you may want to create a list of potential candidates to reach out to or a list of industry experts.  You can create up to 1,000 lists, so there are plenty of options of categories to generate.

Get the Flipboard app

Flipboard is an application that collects content from blogs, social media, and online publications and allows you to create a magazine.  Choose from various topics, brands, and bloggers and Flipboard will organize these into a simple format that you can read through.  This is a great app to have on your phone as well in order to find content on your commute to work or during a lunch break.

Your social profiles won’t grab the attention of a potential candidate or a future employer if you aren’t sharing content on them.  Utilize these time saving tools and techniques in order to keep your social media accounts active and relevant.
