2020 has presented the entire world with uncertainty and challenges. I think we can all agree that we need some positivity and hope right now. To help me get through stressful times, I try to think of the glass half full and remind myself that things will get better, “If there is no struggle there is no progress.” Below are inspirational quotes that I believe are relevant to today’s current climate and have motivated me to keep pushing through the day. I hope you find these quotes just as inspiring as you navigate this new norm.
“Always find a reason to laugh. It may not add years to your life but it will add life to your years." – Unknown
This quote applies to life all of the time, but in today’s world, it is even more important. It is easy to lose sight of the good things that are going on and get caught up in life’s hurdles. My favorite part of quarantine has been spending more time with my family, creating new memories, and just laughing around the dinner table. Did you know that a good laugh is good for your health? Studies show, laughing exercises the muscles, gets the blood flowing, decreases blood pressure and stress hormones, improves sleep patterns, and boosts the immune system. My suggestion, find a reason to laugh every day, even if it’s at yourself!
"If you are working on something that you really care about, you don't have to be pushed. The vision pulls you." - Steve Jobs
It is very unfortunate to see the amount of people who have been laid off and furloughed from their jobs. However, unexpected change has caused some people to push themselves outside of their comfort zone which has led toward a positive direction. Individuals are using this time to pursue their hobbies and create a business out of it, making a career change that they’ve always wanted, learning new skills to help enhance their job, or expanding their network. Hearing and seeing stories during these past months has inspired others to think about what they really want to do and to just go for it!
"There are two types of people who will tell you that you cannot make a difference in this world: those who are afraid to try, and those who are afraid you will succeed." - Ray Goforth
If you have a dream in life, those who matter in your life will always encourage you to pursue that dream. Don’t ever let anyone tell you that you cannot do something. You can do anything you want if you set your mind to. We all know the list of highly successful people who started from the bottom with a dream, passion, and idea and are now at the top because of their determination and drive.
"If you can't fly, then run, if you can't run, then walk, if you can't walk, then crawl, but whatever you do, you have to keep moving.” - Martin Luther King Jr.
These unusual and unprecedented times have brought a lot of insecurity to a lot of people. This quote is about your choices and reminds you that no matter where you are in life, just keep moving forward. Life is going to throw you curve balls, often hardballs, but at the end of the day, your choices are powerful and life moves on.
In tough times, reflect on what is important to you and be grateful about the things and people that you do have in your life. It’s easy (and okay) to feel hopeless and stressed every once in a while, but finding a spark of motivation and happiness in each day will help you stay grounded and empower you to get through the unsettling moments.
