Accounting and HR Specialist

Salary: $60K to $75K

2+ years of proven experience in accounting/bookkeeping required

A Boston-based nonprofit is looking to hire a highly motivated professional who enjoys collaborating with others, solving problems, and takes pride in paying attention to detail. Accounting and HR Specialists will report to the Chief Executive Officer. This position has a strong accounting focus with some human resources support. 

Responsibilities

  • Accounting and HR Specialist will serve as the organization’s point-person with our national office on accounting-related work including accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash receipts, and support the preparation of the annual budget
  • Review and process vendor invoices using cloud-based accounting software
  • Create customer invoices digitally
  • Support cash receipts process
  • Maintain all accounting files, including state contracts digitally
  • Support the preparation of the annual budget and operating statements
  • File annual compliance reports digitally
  • Provide support to our regional staff
  • Serve our staff in terms of enrolling and un-enrolling staff in benefits, sharing benefit updates, and liaising with our national office on these items or questions that arise
  • Maintain, revise, and implement policies and procedures

Requirements

  • 2+ years of proven experience in accounting/bookkeeping
  • Must be highly proficient in Microsoft Office 365, Adobe Acrobat, and cloud-based accounting software
  • Familiar with basic accounting principles and procedures
  • Experience with accounting general ledger systems preferred
  • Able to multitask, prioritize, and organize efficiently
  • Must be detail-oriented and able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work comfortably in the digital space and collaborate effectively in a remote work environment using a variety of virtual communication and meeting platforms
  • Able and willing to maintain confidential information
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
