Accounts Payable/ Receivable Clerk 

Salary: $68K - $75K

3-5 years of AP/AR experience, excellent understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and relevant financial accounting regulations required

Our client, an Association in Boston, is seeking an Accounts Payable/ Receivable Clerk to be responsible for managing payroll, accounts payable/receivable, reconciling accounts, and assisting with financial audits. To be successful in this role, an individual must have exceptional accounting skills and knowledge of relevant industry regulations.


  • Accounts Payable/ Receivable Clerk will oversee position assignments that at times may be delegated to the Benefits Specialist and the Administrative Assistant
  • Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll, identifying discrepancies, and  reconciling accounts
  • Monthly Pension payroll processing including administration and maintenance of ACH (direct  deposit) payment
  • Tax payments for Pension Trust Fund, federal and state
  • Maintain compliance with IRS Tax Levy and W4 calculations and payments
  • Track weekly hours for union eligibility of monthly vacation payroll, and electronic payment  of federal and state taxes for vacation payroll
  • Oversee processing of semiannual Holiday and Supplemental Payroll, and electronic federal and  state tax payments
  • Reconciliation of monthly bank statements
  • Monthly data entry of port tonnage, reconciliation of monies due from tonnage submitted by  Container Royalty Central Collection Fund (CRCCF)
  • Administer union short term disability, life insurance, accidental death, and dismemberment  benefits
  • Assist the Controller with the preparation of budget reports
  • Data entry of quarterly hours submitted by employer members
  • Ensure strict compliance with and regulatory standards
  • Prepare and assist with audits
  • Calculate and process union hiring hall assessment
  • Advise Controller of changes in regulations and generating reports related to compliance issues, standards, and accounting practices
  • Support the creation and implementation of control systems


  • Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
  • 3-5 years of AP/AR experience, excellent understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and relevant financial accounting regulations 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational, multi-tasking, and time management skills
  • Proficient with Excel, Microsoft Office Suite, or similar software
  • Ability to become proficient in the organization’s systems including but not limited to KCML
  • Excellent math and accounting skills
