Salary: $130K - $140K

10+ years of experience as an accounting or tax professional required

Do you have a decade of relevant senior accounting and tax experience, an innovative mind-set, and experience working at a financial institution, family office, or trust company? If so, a privately held Registered Investment Adviser in the Greater Boston area is looking to hire a Director of Accounting.

Responsibilities

  • Director of Accounting will maintain book and tax records, as well as associated financial reporting for trusts, real estate LLCs, and private foundations
  • Prepare, review, and approve monthly financial statements, transactional activity, and account reconciliations, ensuring that transactions are recorded on an accurate and timely basis
  • Report financial and management information to family members and trustees, including development of standardized monthly reporting packages, investment activity and benchmarking, and dashboard development
  • Manage cash and liquidity, including monitoring account balances and oversee weekly accounts payable and bill paying process
  • Provide accounting and finance support to private foundations, including managing disbursements, budgets/forecasts, and liquidity management
  • Support investment activity and returns analyses
  • Work with external advisors, supporting tax compliance, reporting, and tax planning for trusts, individuals, and legal entities
  • Account for direct and indirect private equity investments, valuations, and capital call activity
  • Support budget and forecasting processes for trusts, real estate LLCs, and investing/cash flow activity
  • Provide risk management advice across the organization, proactively identify emerging risks, and recommend appropriate risk management options to senior management
  • Support evolution of family office operations
  • Manage accounting, tax, budget/forecast, and regulatory/compliance requirements associated with establishing a stand-alone family office organization
  • Prepare policies and controls to ensure an effective control environment and protection of family assets, including the use of automated/IT controls in a new family office software platform

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree in accounting or tax
  • CPA required
  • Public accounting experience
  • 10+ years of experience as an accounting or tax professional, preferably in a complex, ultra-high-net-worth family office, trust company, or financial institution
  • Trust and partnership reporting experience desired
  • Systems implementation experience highly desired
  • Excellent technical knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and internal controls
  • Excellent organizational skills, with strong attention to detail
