A Boston law firm is looking to hire a results-driven Director of Administration with strong leadership skills. The Director of Administration identifies and plans for the firm’s changing needs, shares responsibility with other management staff and partners for strategic planning, human resource needs, practice management, and marketing, and contributes to cost-effective management throughout the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Director of Administration will participate in firm management and contribute to discussions on the firm’s strategic planning at the highest level
  • Track and ensure follow-through on action items and initiatives generated by various committees and at Partners Retreat
  • Review and renewal of vendor contracts
  • Maintain and distribute firm policies and procedures, and update per direction from Management Committee
  • Participate in weekly Finance Team meetings, and coordinate with Controller concerning preparation and presentation of firm financial data on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis to partners
  • Plan, anticipate, and recruit candidates to support the growth and strategic needs of the firm
  • Oversee performance evaluations for all staff, report to Management Committee for annual salary increases, conduct review meetings with individual staff
  • Conduct regular staff meetings to update personnel on staffing and other firm issues
  • Counsel and/or terminate non-legal staff as needed, and prepare documentation
  • Oversee management of and participate in the determination of a long-term strategic plan for the firm’s IT infrastructure/network
  • Participate in strategic planning for upgrades and improvements to existing technology
  • Oversee efforts of Marketing and Business Development Director
  • Collaborate on ideas that will ultimately increase the firm’s reputation and revenue production

Requirements

  • Broad knowledge of business departments and their functions
  • Excellent skills and experience in developing, training, and supporting others to maintain a cohesive team
  • Excellent analytic skills to identify areas for improvement
  • Strong organization skills
  • Ability to maintain and protect highly confidential information
