Director of Finance

Salary: $120K - $140K

10+ years of experience in Finance/Accounting with increasing responsibility required

Our client, a preeminent law firm that delivers outstanding client satisfaction and big-firm quality legal services, is hiring a Director of Finance. In this role, you will be responsible for providing hands on leadership, supervision, and guidance over all functions of the finance department and its staff, to include general ledger accounting, financial analysis, budgeting, client billing, accounts receivable, and accounts payable.


  • Director of Finance will in concert with the Executive Director, prepare the annual operating and capital budgets with input from the management team and for approval by the Executive Director and Capital Partners
  • Work with management team to manage and monitor budget performance and produces monthly financial reports for the Executive Director and Partners
  • Analyze and report on variances from the budget, conduct profitability analyses, and make financial presentations as requested
  • Establish, implement, and maintain prudent financial and internal controls throughout the firm
  • Establish and maintain a working relationship with banks
  • Oversee all tax reporting for the firm and that it is done in a timely fashion
  • Provide analysis and recommendations concerning billing rates and other drivers of profitability
  • Negotiate with outside vendors affecting the finance department concerning price and quality of financial services or products provided to the firm
  • Work with the Executive Director to develop policies and procedures relating to the accounting function
  • Conduct orientation for new hires regarding accounting department policies and procedures
  • Streamline and update accounting processes and procedures to ensure efficiencies and excellent client service
  • Serve as a trusted colleague for other members of the management team, contributing to an environment of teamwork and cooperation


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business or Finance
  • 10+ years of experience in Finance/Accounting with increasing responsibility
  • Experience at a professional services company preferred
  • Proven success in managing and leading a Finance/Accounting team
  • Able to manage multiple deadlines and priorities
  • Strong technical skills and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to learn and adapt to new technologies
  • Excellent verbal/written communication and analytical skills
