IP Prosecution Practice Manager

Salary: Up to $150K

5-7 years of Human Resources experience within a law firm required

Do you have a legal HR background with people management experience? If so, a nationally recognized law firm in Boston is looking to hire an IP Prosecution Practice Manager who will work closely with others in IP Section Management to coordinate efficient and optimal administration of the IP Prosecution Practice.

Responsibilities

  • IP Prosecution Practice Manager will manage the Patent Prosecution Associates, Patent Agents, and Technical Advisors including regular check-ins with Patent Professionals
  • Guide process to determine which Patent Agents and Technical Advisors to sponsor for law school program, and monitor their participation
  • Identify and encourage appropriate Technical Advisors to take and pass the Patent Bar, monitor their progress, approve related expenses, etc.
  • Work with Patent Professionals on Professional Development Plans
  • Participate in Associate COMA process and provide analysis and support for Section Management and Committee during elevation evaluation process
  • Work with Attorney Development Team to develop, review and update Training Programs
  • Promote and coordinate internal “knowledge share” meetings and events
  • Identify external opportunities for professional development for Patent Professionals
  • Participate in compensation and bonus process for Patent Professionals
  • Draft composites for Patent Professionals
  • Coordinate and participate in Evaluation Meetings and Mid-Year Check-ins for Patent Professionals
  • Manage on-ramp and off-ramp for Patent Professionals
  • Work with Recruiting and the Chair in connection with Patent Prosecution hiring initiatives

Requirements

  • J.D. or MBA Degree
  • 5-7 years of Human Resources experience within a law firm
  • Experience in employee relations, performance improvement and separations
  • Strong understanding of law firm accounting and finance
  • Strong analytical abilities, project management and organizational skills
  • Excellent leadership and management abilities
  • Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in using Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint
