Salary: $60K - $65K

2 years of experience providing SUD treatment utilizing evidence-based treatment models including CBT and group curriculum required

A well-known homeless shelter organization located in Boston is seeking a Lead Clinician. The Clinician’s role is to provide low-barrier, “on-demand” and ongoing individual and group substance use disorder treatment for SUD among shelter guests.  


  • Lead Clinician will work with staff and be present in milieu spaces where guests gather, to engage and connect with people and encourage them to participate in treatment services 
  • Be a key participant in the agency’s plan to embed an intensive outpatient treatment program into clients menu of SUD-related services that currently include harm reduction for those who are still actively using and peer-based recovery support for individuals in recovery
  • Ensures a highly responsive model of care that welcomes people into treatment “on-demand” with limited barriers to access
  • Uses evidence-based techniques to provide short and long-term individual and group therapy, and clinical case management
  • Works closely with our Harm Reduction Specialist/s and staff from Recovery Support Center, to identify and support people who are seeking treatment for their substance use disorder
  • Works within a holistic care model, collaborating closely with other clinicians, psychiatrists, physicians, case managers, and support staff.
  • Conducts and document intakes and maintain clinical notes
  • Works closely with the behavioral health and medical team at partner facilities 
  • Offers clinical insight and expertise into the development of an SUD treatment program model in pursuit of licensure
  • Actively participates in trainings and program development and improvement activities


  • Masters-level clinician. LICSW (or LCSW with expectation to secure LICSW within 6 months) preferred. LMHC and non-licensed clinicians will be considered
  • 2 years of experience providing SUD treatment utilizing evidence-based treatment models including CBT and group curriculum 
  • 1-2 years of experience with providing supervision
  • Experience providing treatment to people who have lived in extreme poverty and have co-occurring disorders
  • Experience with highly vulnerable, high-barrier individuals and awareness of issues common to those who are experiencing homelessness
  • Enthusiasm and interest in being a part of a start-up treatment program
  • Lived experience with homelessness and/or recovery a plus
