Salary: $175K - $190K

8 years of legal, personnel, or recruitment experience along with prior management experience required

A leading law firm is hiring a Legal Personnel and Development Manager to manage the delivery of all Legal Personnel and Development processes and programs for lawyers in their New York and international offices. Apply to build and manage relationships with lawyers to ensure successful programs and projects for the office.   


  • Legal Personnel and Development Manager will collaborate directly with firm management in the implementation of lawyer evaluation, retention, compensation, and promotion programs and processes in the New York and International offices and ensures excellent delivery of services through the Career Advancement Program
  • Manage the semi-annual Associate, Senior Associate, and Counsel review process; the semi-annual process includes working with Partner chaired Committees to review the collected feedback for lawyers from their respective offices, helping develop and facilitate Partner and Associate summary messages and delivery meetings, and following-up with lawyers requiring coaching, mentoring, or training
  • Serve as the main point of contact in New York and the international offices on, onboarding, integration, offboarding, and outplacement programs and efforts
  • Collaborate with department and office leadership regarding lawyer headcount in the New York and International offices
  • Responsible for firmwide immigration needs of both staff and lawyers; liaise with outside immigration counsel on each individual matter
  • Ensure and manage the effectiveness of the localized implementation of the firm's strategic goals, objectives, and initiatives
  • Create and manage the New York Legal Personnel & Development budget to ensure a smart and flexible expense and headcount budget for the NY office aligned with the firm’s strategic goals, objectives, and initiatives
  • In coordination with the Director of Legal Personnel and Development, as appropriate, hire, develop, evaluate, and compensate the Legal Personnel & Development team in the New York office
  • Assess current industry trends and innovations in the Legal Personnel and Development space
  • Make recommendations with regards to new programs and practices as applicable


  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 8 years of legal, personnel, or recruitment experience along with prior management experience
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the legal profession and law firm structures
  • Proven ability to exercise discretion with confidential communications
  • Strong leadership and management skills
  • Solid attention to detail, excellent written and analytical skills, and the ability to meet deadlines
  • Strong verbal communication and inter-personal skills
  • Successful time management skills
  • Strong technical skills on the following applications preferred: Excel, PeopleSoft, PowerPoint, and viDesktop
