Salary: Up to $120K

A leading Boston law firm is seeking a Manager of IP Administration (IPAM) to oversee the prosecution workflow and practice management for assigned practices, clients, and members of IP Administration.  Apply to promote a team environment and contribute to the development and promotion of policies and procedures.

Responsibilities 

  • Manager of IP Administration will manage daily workflow, staffing, and coverage issues by coordinating the assignment and prioritization of workflow under tight deadlines and constantly changing priorities
  • Schedule special work, including overtime work, with the approval of the Director of IP Administration/Senior Manager of IP Administration (Senior IPAM)
  • Effectively addresses all attorneys’/technology specialists’ and/or clients’ practice-related needs in a timely manner including those resulting from planned or unplanned absences
  • Communicate with attorneys and technology specialists regarding workflow and special projects, etc. to ensure the needs of the attorneys, technology specialists, and clients are being me
  • Function as a liaison for members of IP Administration to attorneys, technology specialists, directors, and others to ensure effective communication
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of training-, practice-, and/or client-related documentation and materials as needed
  • Participate in the interview and selection process of members of IP Administration
  • Work with the Director of IP Administration/Senior IPAM and training team on the orientation and integration process for new members of IP Administration
  • Work with the Director of IP Administration/Senior IPAM and/or others to determine and address departmental or firm initiatives (e.g. policies, procedures, new systems, training tools, etc.) and assists with the training of members of IP Administration
  • Mentor, coach, or otherwise acts as a resource for members of IP Administration and other department members as needed
  • Provide coverage for other managers of IP Administration as needed
  • Responsible for performance evaluations and skills assessments, and assists with the professional development of members of IP Administration
  • Meet regularly with members of IP Administration and/or other individuals within the firm

Requirements

  • 5+ years of work experience in the area of intellectual property, or a combination of a Bachelor’s Degree and 2 years of work experience in the field of intellectual property
  • Demonstrated success functioning in a demanding customer service-oriented environment
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate complex concepts and procedures
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community
  • Proven leadership ability
  • Strong critical thinking, interpretive, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent organizational skills with meticulous attention to accuracy and detail
  • Substantial intellectual property expertise
  • Demonstrated ability to learn, retain, and apply policies  and procedures in various circumstances
  • Ability to work with a team, which may involve cross-training to provide similar support services to other functional areas in the department
  • Ability to independently create, compose, and edit written materials
  • Flexibility and capacity to respond calmly, efficiently, and effectively in stressful situations
  • Ability to maintain the confidentiality of matters, information, and training assessments
