3-5 years of trust administration experience and tax prep experience required

A Boston law firm is seeking a Temporary Paralegal to assist their busy attorneys in their Trust and Estate Department. You will be responsible for the smooth functioning of all operations of the department, including trust accounting, security transactions, and tax preparation. Apply to maintain positive contact with attorneys and staff and observe confidentiality of client and firm matters.

Responsibilities

  • Paralegal will be responsible for the collection of trust income, payment of all trust bills, and preparation of distributions to trust beneficiaries
  • Oversee daily operations of Custodial Bank, including deposits, check requests, and communication with the Relationship Manager
  • Handle all aspects of trade securities processing, including the interface between Investment Advisor; Broker and Custodial Bank; ordering sales or purchases of securities; preparing trade sheets
  • Monitor performance and review monthly statements for accuracy
  • Maintain records of account performance relative to objective standards
  • Maintain continuous client contact and handles all client relations issues, including telephone calls and correspondence to and from clients and keeping Trustee informed of client’s needs
  • Attend meetings with the Trustee and client both in the office and outside the office
  • Prepare Form 1041 Fiduciary tax returns for trusts and estates, prepare Form 1040 Personal tax returns for individuals, and prepare quarterly estimated taxes for trusts and individuals
  • Handle special projects or additional responsibilities as assigned from time to time by the attorneys in the Department
  • Organize, scan, copy, and fax legal documents in a timely manner
  • Update and organize electronic and physical files for easy access

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or finance
  • 3-5 years of trust administration experience and tax prep experience
  • Ability to demonstrate impeccable integrity in personal and fiduciary matters
  • Strong interpersonal skills in order to communicate with a diverse group of attorneys and staff
  • Customer service skills needed
