Senior Accountant

A top Boston law firm is hiring a Senior Accountant to be responsible for all aspects of accounting, budgeting, tax preparation, fixed assets, financial reporting and compliance, cash flow analysis, audits, financial reporting, reconciliation, and analysis. Responsibilities

  • Senior Accountant will prepare monthly and quarterly cash and accrual financial statements and related financial reports
  • Create and maintain system-generated financial statements
  • Assist with fiscal year budget and forecast financial statement and related assumptions
  • Reconciliation of all general ledger accounts
  • Fixed asset processing, reconciling, reporting, and tax-related depreciation forecasts
  • Month-end accounting system close (Elite 3E), balancing and resolve of any issues
  • Review and reconcile bank statements to the general ledger
  • Work with payroll department on reconciliation of member and staff payrolls/compensation to the general ledger
  • Work closely with external auditors in preparation of audited financial statements and associated financial schedules needed for annual audits
  • Assistance in preparation of schedules needed for UK entity financial statements
  • Preparation of all schedules needed for corporate federal and state tax returns
  • Quarterly calculations and filing of estimated federal and state tax payments and extensions
  • Preparation and filing of property tax returns for all locations
  • Preparation and filing of sales/use tax for various locations
  • Responsible for record-keeping, annual and quarterly cash distribution, calculation of gains and losses, and related tax work associated with Firm’s Investment Program
  • Calculation and distribution of federal and state tax returns and K-1’s related to the Firm’s investment program
  • Create and follow internal controls
  • Financial and profitability analysis on a requested basis

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Accounting. MBA or CPA certification is a plus
  • 7+ years of experience in audit and tax
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills with an ability to influence others
  • Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in using Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to quickly get up to speed and master new applications and software is critical
  • Accuracy in daily work and other projects
  • Ability to function in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment, prioritize multiple projects on a daily basis, and adjust to shifting priorities
  • Adherence to policies, procedures, and instructions of Manager of Financial Reporting and Tax
  • Strong planning, project management, and organizational skills
  • Strong sense of urgency and a high-energy level
  • Facility analyzing, working with, and presenting data
