Are you First Aid and CPR Certified and looking to work at a leading nonprofit? Our client, located in the Greater Boston area, is looking to hire a Temporary Security Officer to provide best-in-class security. Apply to work as part of a team, but also work independently.
Responsibilities
- Security Officer will patrol buildings, grounds and parking areas of school facilities on a regular basis while on duty; ensure the security and safety of campus by examining doors, windows, and gates; check for suspicious occurrences and enforces parking rules and regulations; issue parking violation warnings; tag and request towing when necessary; and record inspection times of assigned inspection locations in security log diaries
- Check ID cards of persons entering the facility; refuse to admit persons who cannot show either proper authorization or cause for being admitted; provide information and directions; explain rules and regulations
- Operate and monitor security control panel alarms and related security equipment to provide area and visitor surveillance
- Respond to and investigate situations reported to Security Office
- Open and close facility, ensuring that users have left the premise
- Report security and general maintenance problems via SchoolDude and/or the maintenance unit
- Check electronic and mechanical devices that require monitoring and recording, and report any abnormal conditions
- Place telephone call(s) to Administrative Emergency Contact (AEC) on duty at prescribed daily time and/or other public safety officers and school officials depending on the type and circumstance of the emergency or events
- Maintain logs and record of occurrences, complete necessary paperwork, and use computer terminal and various computer applications to input and retrieve data
- Render first-responder services to all emergencies and incidents within the scope of your training
- Answer phone calls and documents all messages and requests
- Occasionally perform janitorial duties and sets thermostatic controls to maintain specified temperature in buildings or cold storage rooms
- Accompany outside vendors and service personnel to designated work area and remain in the vicinity
Requirements
- High School Diploma or general education degree (GED); Associates degree preferred; military experience is a plus
- 2 years of experience in a role requiring solid interpersonal skills
- Ability to perform first-responder rescue activities involved with medical or facility emergency situations
- Knowledge of basic first aid and CPR, or the ability to acquire such knowledge through training
- Knowledge of basic physical security techniques and principles, or the ability to acquire such knowledge through training
- Basic computer proficiency
- Dedication to excellent customer service
- Good analytical skills
