A Boston nonprofit organization is seeking a Temporary Data Specialist to assist with data entry, data migration, and data quality analysis and error reconciliation as part of the nonprofit’s systems change from Efforts to Outcomes (ETO) to Clarity. Apply if you’re an experienced user of complicated databases and have worked on prior software systems migrations. 

Responsibilities

  • Data Specialist will input client-level data into HMIS or other database system as necessary
  • Work with multiple data information sources to identify information needed for input 
  • Assess for gaps in information, prepares reports of said gaps and works with Supervisor to develop methods to reconcile or memorialize gaps
  • Perform data validation and clean up to prepare for analysis, and assists in database management
  • Review nightly bed lists and reconcile as needed.  Reports any significant areas of concern to Supervisor
  • Send bed vacancy list to shelter staff and Triage on weekends
  • Perform quality control checks on nightly, weekly and monthly data related to enrollment and dismissals
  • Work with Supervisor and the Department of Program Evaluation to make suggestions to improve HMIS training and user resources
  • Prepare various reports for shelter management, as assigned
  • Perform other data-related duties, as assigned
  • Investigation of errors to identify patterns, causes, and user sources, via phone, email, and other communication 
  • Receive and enter backlogged data from all shelters, and input with attention to details of date, location, client name, and other touchpoints, recorded in multiple formats, including, but not limited to:  Excel, Word, Outlook, scanned PDFs, and handwritten documents

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 2 years of experience with significant data entry, reporting, and data analysis
  • Excellent computer skills, especially in Excel and database systems
  • Familiarity with nonprofit or human services operations
  • Strong writing, documentation and computer skills
  • High level of computer proficiency in database systems, including data entry, maintenance, quality assurance and report production
  • Strong team approach; record of success working within large, diverse work teams
  • Ability to work in a remote work environment with strong time management skills
