Our client, a Boston based law firm, is seeking a Temporary Human Resources Director to join their team. Apply to develop, implement, administer, and direct the human resources functions of the firm.

Responsibilities

  • Human Resources Director will oversee the entire human resource function of the firm, continuously evaluating the current policies and procedures, and making recommendations for improvement, as well as ensuring policy compliance
  • Annual review and revision of employee handbook
  • Overall responsibility for the supervision and evaluation of the firm’s non-lawyer staff and reception
  • Overall responsibility for the firm’s recruiting, hiring, development, and retention programs in compliance with state and federal regulations as well as recommended labor law practices
  • Overall responsibility for coordination of employee and partner onboarding and off-boarding, including follow-up
  • Develop and administer personnel policies and procedures ensuring compliance with federal, state and local employment laws and regulations
  • Monitor sources for changes in laws or trends affecting the firm’s human resources, and make recommendations for compliance or improvement
  • Administer annual wage and salary review of all non-attorney staff
  • Prepare and deliver annual performance reviews for all non-attorney staff, by seeking feedback from appropriate parties
  • Overall responsibility of HRIS system and time clock software, ensuring the firm has accurate and complete records
  • Primary contact with the state unemployment office
  • Primary contact with employment and temporary agencies for non-legal staffing
  • In conjunction with Executive Director and Department Chairs, conducts performance evaluation process and annual wage reviews of Associates and Contract Partners
  • Oversee employee relations and resolution of employee grievances and conflicts
  • Receive and consider staff problems on a confidential basis and acts as liaison between the employee and their supervisor
  • Develop and maintain personnel-related statistical reports for workers compensation and 401(k) audit
  • Participate in and review industry surveys

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, or equivalent experience
  • 2-5 years of human resource management experience
  • Professional certification from HRCI or SHRM
  • Ability to identify and analyze complex issues and problems and to recommend and implement solutions
  • Ability to organize and prioritize numerous tasks
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to communicate and maintain effective relationships with partners, attorneys, and staff
