JOHNLEONARD has an exciting opportunity for an experienced and collaborative Temporary Kitchen Associate to join our client's welcoming and friendly team. This contract kitchen role is based in Boston and offers an attractive rate and the chance to be part of a positive and diverse workplace culture.
As a dedicated Kitchen Associate, you will function in a dual capacity as a utility person/pot washer and kitchen associate. As a utility person, you will be primarily responsible for cleaning and maintaining the main kitchen's floors, lower walls, under stationary shelves, and counters. As a pot washer, you will service the company's meals program and the inn's social enterprise. Finally, as a kitchen associate, you will help with the set-up of meals, service of meals to guests, and the cleanup of the dining areas following meal service.
In your first few weeks in this Temporary Kitchen Associate role, you can expect to:
- Sweep, scrub, and mop kitchen floors
- Maintain clean lower walls in all kitchen areas
- Clean all kitchen equipment and discard trash, wash trash barrels, clean floor mats, etc.
- Secure the kitchen at the end of each shift
- Assist in the service of meals to the guests, adhering to the portions and presentation outlined by the supervisor
To apply for this Kitchen Associate role, you must be able to read English satisfactorily and possess acceptable communication skills. You also must demonstrate by experience the ability to wash pots and pans using manual and machine-operated skills. Some prior experience in cleaning commercial kitchen spaces is also required and some familiarity with kitchen tools and equipment may be useful. In addition, you must be able to stand on your feet for extended periods of time while operating a dishwashing machine, hand-washing pots and pans, or completing the general utility tasks associated with this position.
