Temporary Payroll Specialist/Accounts Payable

2+ years of professional experience and Harpers payroll experience required
A Boston religious organization is hiring a Temporary Payroll Specialist/ Accounts Payable. In this role, you will be responsible for processing and issuing payroll for employees. Apply to work closely with the human resources department and the payroll company.
Responsibilities
- Payroll Specialist/Accounts Payable will calculates and post employee earnings including overtime
- Calculate and post all required and voluntary pay deductions for taxes, benefits, which may involve multi-state tax deductions or other withholdings
- Calculate vacation, sick pay, and holiday establishments
- Process individual salary rate adjustments or other changes affecting employee payroll status including, new hires, transfers, lay-offs, terminations etc.
- Maintain required payroll files and records
- Work closely with payroll company to resolve various issues that arise
- Review reports
- Assemble the W-2's for distribution
- Prepare 1099 forms and reports at year end
- Review all invoices for appropriate documentation and approval prior to payment for all 8 locations
- Enter all invoices and credits into accounting system
- Print Accounts payable checks then forwards to Bookkeeper for signing and distribution
- Act as liaison between Congregation and the Sponsored Ministries and various vendor accounts payable departments
- Resolve issues that arise from vendor inquiries
- Maintain all accounts payable reports, spreadsheets and corporate accounts payable files
Requirements
- A.S. Degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent combination of education, training and experience
- 2+ years professional experience and Harpers payroll experience
- Accuracy with attention to detail
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office
