Temporary Remote Senior Accountant 

Salary: $30 - $40/HR

A global organization in Boston is hiring a Temporary Remote Senior Accountant. Apply to this exciting opportunity to be responsible for applying accounting principles and procedures to analyze financial information, prepare accurate and timely financial reports and statements, and ensure appropriate accounting control procedures. 

Responsibilities

  • Remote Senior Accountant will draft interim quarterly financial statements as well as annual audited financial statements and footnotes for review by the Controller
  • Coordinate annual audit materials preparation to ensure a high quality and well-organized package ready in a timely manner for Controller review prior to audit
  • Lead on 990 and MA-PC filings
  • Compile information needed for annual business insurance renewals for insurance brokers
  • Complete government census questionnaires
  • Perform a range of complex and senior-level financial statement analysis and account reconciliations, including Charitable Remainder Trust, Gift Annuities, Deferred Rent and Prepaid Insurance
  • In collaboration with team and Controller, develop and deliver training and support to regional finance staff
  • Perform a range of complex and senior-level financial statement analysis and account reconciliations
  • Maintain the Fixed Asset sub-ledger (via Bassets); upload monthly depreciation entries for the agency and provide depreciation run-out information for the annual planning process
  • Participate in establishing and monitoring of accounting control procedures and ensure compliance with established policy
  • Ensure all financial transactions are completed with high degrees of accuracy, in full compliance with requirements, and within established timelines
  • Prepare required journal entries and account reconciliations, and resolve variances using professional concepts and established policies and procedures
  • Provide support and guidance to accounting staff in regional offices, administrative staff, managers, and others in the use of accounting systems in accordance with policy, procedures and accounting principles
  • Work with external auditors; prepare audit schedules, provide explanations of schedules and related variances if any
  • Ensure monthly close is accomplished as per schedule

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or equivalent education in US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP); CPA or MBA highly desirable 
  • 5 years of experience as an Accountant
  • ORACLE experience highly desirable
  • Ability to analyze financial transactions
  • Significant general ledger journal entry production/account reconciliation experience
  • Proficient in Excel
  • Excellent attention to detail, ability to work accurately and to leave accurate audit trails
  • Ability to identify system, process and policy issues and make recommendations for and implement solution(s)
  • Excellent communication, time management and interpersonal skills
