Trust and Estate Probate Paralegal

2-5 years of experience with all aspects of the probate process, including collecting and distributing assets, and preparing accounts required

Do you have extensive probate experience? If so, apply to this Trust and Estate Probate Paralegal position at a leading law firm in Boston! In this role, you will provide assistance to attorneys in the firm’s busy Trust and Estate Department.

Responsibilities

  • Trust and Estate Probate Paralegal will draft, read, and interpret legal documents, including trustee appointments and resignations and trust amendments
  • Prepare probate inventories, court filings and probate accountings
  • Produce summaries and accountings for trust beneficiaries
  • Input information for fiduciary income tax returns (Form 1041), gift tax returns (Form 709) and estate tax returns (Form 706)
  • Communicate with trust and estate beneficiaries regarding distributions
  • Attend trust beneficiary meetings
  • Assist in retitling assets, identifying provisions, and executing principal payments
  • General bookkeeping duties as needed
  • Filing case documents in an organized manner for easy access
  • Record billable time daily; review and edit bill performs monthly; print, copy and pay final bills monthly
  • Organize, scan, copy, and fax legal documents in a timely manner
  • Update and organize electronic and physical files for easy access
  • Handle special projects or additional responsibilities as assigned from time to time by the attorneys in the Department

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or finance
  • 2-5 years of experience with all aspects of the probate process, including collecting and distributing assets, and preparing accounts
  • Knowledge of financial and legal management principles
  • Experience managing complex financial, legal and banking relationships in a professional services firm
  • Ability to demonstrate impeccable integrity in personal and fiduciary matters
  • Interpersonal skills necessary in order to communicate with a diverse group of attorneys and staff and provide information and “customer service” with ordinary courtesy and tact
