Chrome Extensions for Job Seekers

Google Chrome has some great extensions (software programs that can be installed into Chrome to change the browser's functionality) that can come in handy during the job search process. There are thousands of Chrome extensions, free or paid, available for installation from the Chrome Web Store, but I have narrowed down a list of the best, up-to-date extensions that would be the most beneficial during your job search. These extensions were hand-picked to make your life just that much easier!

1. Grammarly

This tool is a lifesaver when it comes to writing emails, cover letters, professional social media posts, and editing your resume. This extension not only corrects spelling mistakes but provides suggestions to improve word choice and sentences to help you write your best. Price: Basic: Free, Premium: $12/month, Business: $15/month

2. Block Site

Keep distractions to a minimum by blocking your access to specific social sites and apps (based on parameters you choose) to increase productivity and stay focused during your job search time. Price: Basic: Free and Unlimited: $3.99/month

3. Form+

This extension is great for when you are applying to more than one job at once. This tool helps fill in online forms and applications like on LinkedIn or Indeed. All responses can be saved to default to be used in the future. Form+ has pre-made templates and text for formatting use. Price: Basic: Free, Starter: $20/month, Professional: $36/month, Platinum: $68/month

4. JobSeer

This tool assists you in finding jobs through Google News articles and sends you alerts of the jobs that seem most promising based on your preferences and qualifications. This extension offers you the ability to tag keywords and specific locations so that relevant jobs will be sent directly to your inbox rather than searching for them on your own. Price: Free

 5. Google Keep

Easily capture, edit, share, and create notes to look back on in the future. This app is an alternative to ‘bookmarking’. It can be used to save jobs to come back to later and keep track of them. You can add text to the note to label it or leave a comment reminder. Price: Free; the only time you may be required to purchase is when you run out of storage.

6. OneTab

When job searching, you likely have many tabs open. OneTab converts all your open tabs into one list. This simple tool will get you organized and also you will save up to 95% of browser memory because you will have reduced the number of tabs open in Google Chrome. Price: Free

7. Jobalytics

This extension analyzes job descriptions and identifies keywords missing from your resume. This tool will simply optimize your resume so it gets past applicant tracking systems (ATSs) and into the hands of hiring managers. Price: Free

These Google Chrome extensions will help make the job search process seamless, saving you time and energy. Give these tools a try and let us know which ones you found successful!
